Today we witness history as Proposition 8 - the measure that banned same-sex marriage in California - finally sees its day in front of the United States Supreme Court. Oral arguments will be heard in the federal case challenging Prop 8, debating whether or not gay and lesbian couples in California have the constitutional right to marry. This landmark case could lead to a historic ruling, transforming the landscape for same-sex couples nationwide.

"When the NOH8 Campaign was born out of the Prop 8 protests late one November night in our living room, we never could have imagined the world we’d be standing in today. The Supreme Court is taking up the issue of same-sex marriage for the first time in two cases that will no doubt play a huge role in the future of this country, just months after historic wins for marriage equality in other states. Prop 8 was not just a ‘California issue,’ and it’s only fitting for it to have ended up in front of the Supreme Court." - NOH8 Co-Founder Jeff Parshley

"From now until the Supreme Court’s decision and beyond, the NOH8 Campaign will continue its mission to put a face to those that have been discriminated against, allowing people in the farthest corners of the world to realize they too know someone personally affected by discriminatory legislation like Prop 8 and the hateful ideology behind it. We’re so proud to have played a part in advancing the fight for the freedom to marry, and we’ll continue to fight until people everywhere have equal rights." - NOH8 Co-Founder Adam Bouska

A final decision from the Supreme Court is expected by June.
