I heard about the NOH8 shoot the morning of the event. I was bound and determined to make it in for a picture. I was always bullied for being gay throughout elementary school, junior high and part of high school.

I don't understand the hate that people are raised with and why they continue on that sort of behavior. Being gay does not define me as a person, it's simply the way I was born.

I wanted to do the A-List Dallas because I wanted to show that a boy from a small town can make a name in the world, even through all the hate. I want to see hate ended in the world and this photoshoot was one more step to expose my life on a foundation of love.

There is no place for hate in this world and you have to start with yourself to make a change, and taking a picture for this campaign is a great start. It's a daily reminder that you should share love, never hate.

So I'd definitely encourage you to attend a shoot, make friends while you are there, and exchange stories. You will be amazed at what you learn.
